Sometimes you don’t need the sea. You don’t need five-star hotels, you don’t need shopping and excursions. Sometimes you just need to switch off. To disappear. To fall into yourself, into the silence, into the air where there is no Wi-Fi, no notifications, no words like “deadline” and “budget”. This is exactly the state I found myself in last summer. And that’s when I came across https://yogajourney.ru. It turned out that all I was missing was the Altai Mountains, a blanket by the fire, and morning practices in the fog.

Not a tour, but a revelation
Honestly? I didn’t know what to expect. I’m not a pro at yoga. I stretched here and there, breathed there, but always thought, “Well, this is for those who are into it.” And then – bam, and I pack my backpack, go to Altai and sign up for a week of sunrises, asanas, meditations and hiking.
At first it was unusual. You find yourself in the middle of nature, next to people you don’t know, and without the usual “safety cushion” of the Internet. But a day passes — and you understand how cool it is. Suddenly it becomes quiet in your head. Really quiet. And this silence seems to clear out everything unnecessary — thoughts, worries, endless fragmentary thoughts.
Yoga that is not about flexibility
Morning practices are not just stretching. It’s like meeting yourself, only not intense, but gentle. No rush. The trainer doesn’t rush, doesn’t shout “deeper”, like in the gym. He just leads, and you decide how much you need right now. And when you stand on the mat on the edge of the plateau, and the sun is just starting to break through the mountains, you understand that at this moment you are completely here. And not somewhere in work chats.
And the evenings… Oh, those evenings. We gathered around the fire, wrapped ourselves in warm blankets, drank herbal tea and breathed to the sound of the river. Sometimes we meditated, sometimes we were simply silent. And in that silence there were more words than in a week of business calls.
Altai works without filters
The nature there is special. No “tourist paths”, everything is as alive and wild as possible. I saw fog spreading along the river like a shawl; heard the silence singing in the mountains; drank spring water so cold that it penetrates to the bone. These feelings cannot be conveyed on Instagram. You have to live it.
Our group was small, but diverse. Some had been into spiritual practices for a long time, while others, like me, were simply looking for a break from the world. No one was trying to steal the show, no one was playing “guru.” We were all just people taking a step toward ourselves. And, surprisingly, in a few days we became almost like a family.
Everything is real: from the rug to the porridge
The organization can be described separately. Everything — from the transfer to the last dried apricot — was thought out. There was a feeling that the tour was not done for the sake of a “tick”, but as if for their own. Cozy houses in which you can sleep to the sound of the river. The food is a separate delight. No heaviness, no boring “correct” dishes. Everything is tasty, satisfying, healthy and with care.
And in general, this is a rare place where you feel like a guest, not a client. And a welcome one at that. Where no one imposes anything on you, but is always there if you need advice, support or just a heart-to-heart talk.
What has changed?
After returning, I am often asked: “So, how are things there?” I smile. Because it’s not “well.” It’s wow. Altai is still with me. Somewhere in my morning breath, in the way I now reach for my phone less often, in the way I listen to people and myself differently.
I started doing yoga again. Not for the arch in my back, but for the balance in my head. Sometimes in the mornings I turn on the sounds of a mountain river. And I also started a tradition – once a year I have to “drop out of the system”. I can’t live without it.
If you ever feel like you are suffocating from everyday life, just remember: there are places where you can truly breathe. For me, that place was Altai. And those who gave me the path there were YogaJourney.
